[General surgery following heart valve replacement (author's transl)]. 1978

Patients with heart valve replacement regarding further surgical treatment are sub-divided into 3 groups. 1) Patients after open or closed reconstruction of valves with sinus rhythm and no anticoagulation.--2) Arrhythmic patient of the same kind but under anticoagulation.--3) Patients with valve replacement, who are under anticoagulation if there is no vital contraindication.--Group 1 and 2 may be operated on at every general hospital, provided cardiological supervision can be practiced. Until now patients of group 3 should always be treated in a cardiosurgical centre.
