J H Tordoir, and G F Van Beek

The case is reported of a patient who had a peritonitis due to a necrotizing leiomyoma of the jejunum. The frequency, clinical aspects, diagnosis and treatment of the benign small bowel tumor are discussed. It is stressed that diagnosis is very difficult and that only a few tumors give rise to an acute abdominal condition.
