[Virus-specific protein synthesis in cells infected with Japanese encephalitis virus variants]. 1980

O B Buĭnitskaia, and B S Naroditskiĭ, and N V Loginova

In BHK-21 and chick embryo cells infected with Japanese encephalitis virus clones, 6-7 virus-specific proteins were identified having molecular weights of 96-98, 71-74, 52-56, 22, 20, 12.5, and 10 kilodaltons (kd). After additional treatment of the infected cells with cycloheximide (300 micrograms/ml for 30 min) combined with a long-term treatment with actinomycin D (1 microgram/ml) three virus-specific proteins with the highest molecular weights were found in the cell lysate. Proteins with moleculr weights 52-56, 22, and 20 kd are glycoproteins; 14C-glucosamine in trace amounts is also incorporated into proteins with molecular weights 96-98 and 71-74 kd. Differences in the molecular weight of the intracellular protein B3 in the clones under study were found.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008970 Molecular Weight The sum of the weight of all the atoms in a molecule. Molecular Weights,Weight, Molecular,Weights, Molecular
D002642 Chick Embryo The developmental entity of a fertilized chicken egg (ZYGOTE). The developmental process begins about 24 h before the egg is laid at the BLASTODISC, a small whitish spot on the surface of the EGG YOLK. After 21 days of incubation, the embryo is fully developed before hatching. Embryo, Chick,Chick Embryos,Embryos, Chick
D003001 Cloning, Molecular The insertion of recombinant DNA molecules from prokaryotic and/or eukaryotic sources into a replicating vehicle, such as a plasmid or virus vector, and the introduction of the resultant hybrid molecules into recipient cells without altering the viability of those cells. Molecular Cloning
D004591 Electrophoresis, Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis in which a polyacrylamide gel is used as the diffusion medium. Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis,SDS-PAGE,Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-PAGE,Gel Electrophoresis, Polyacrylamide,SDS PAGE,Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate PAGE,Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-PAGEs
D004664 Encephalitis Virus, Japanese A species of FLAVIVIRUS, one of the Japanese encephalitis virus group (ENCEPHALITIS VIRUSES, JAPANESE), which is the etiological agent of Japanese encephalitis found in Asia, southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. Japanese B Encephalitis Virus,Japanese Encephalitis Virus,Virus, Japanese Encephalitis
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
