The results of the study reveal that on the one hand a considerable share of the care required by ageing citizens is provided by members of their family, their friends and neighbours, but on the other hand that due to the forms of life of modern society, especially in cities, the management and organization of the care of the aged must be improved in all its stages in order to register and help every single person in this category in need for help. To achieve this objective all bodies concerned with caring for aged people should work jointly and in a co-ordinated fashion. Owing to the fact that, in our opinion, the present organizational forms of social care no longer meet the requirements determined by the humanitarian objectives of our socialist state the authors propose that new approaches should be elaborated, discussed and introduced.
