[Effect of the intraventricular administration of vasopressin and oxytocin on hypothalamic self stimulation]. 1978

H Schwarzberg, and K Betschen, and H Unger, and H Schulz

The influence of 500 microunits oxytocin as well as 50 micrunits lysine-vasopressin on hypothalamic self-stimulation rate after intraventricular application was studied. Oxytocin caused an increase and vasopressin a decrease in the self-stimulation rate.

D008236 Lypressin The porcine antidiuretic hormone (VASOPRESSINS). It is a cyclic nonapeptide that differs from ARG-VASOPRESSIN by one amino acid, containing a LYSINE at residue 8 instead of an ARGININE. Lys-vasopressin is used to treat DIABETES INSIPIDUS or to improve vasomotor tone and BLOOD PRESSURE. D010121 Oxytocin A nonapeptide hormone released from the neurohypophysis (PITUITARY GLAND, POSTERIOR). It differs from VASOPRESSIN by two amino acids at residues 3 and 8. Oxytocin acts on SMOOTH MUSCLE CELLS, such as causing UTERINE CONTRACTIONS and MILK EJECTION. Ocytocin,Pitocin,Syntocinon
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D012653 Self Stimulation The act or process of inducing or increasing the level of arousal in oneself. It can be observed in various situations; for example, infants who are understimulated may explore their surroundings or babble to themselves.(https://dictionary.apa.org/self-stimulation accessed 12/30/2020) ICSS Intracranial Self-Stimulation,Intracranial Self Stimulation,Self-Stimulation,Intracranial Self Stimulations,Self Stimulation, Intracranial,Self Stimulations,Self Stimulations, Intracranial,Self-Stimulations,Stimulation, Self,Stimulations, Self
