Synthesis of some 4-hydroxypiperazine and N.N.-dibenzylhydroxylamine esters with potential local anaesthetic activity. 1978

S M Rida, and A S Issa, and Y A Beltagy

In the synthetic approach to some new local anaesthetics, it was desirable to prepare esters of N1-methyl-N4-hydroxypiperazine and N.N-dibenzylhydroxylamine. Their local anaesthetic activity testing is in progress.

D010879 Piperazines Compounds that are derived from PIPERAZINE.
D002621 Chemistry A basic science concerned with the composition, structure, and properties of matter; and the reactions that occur between substances and the associated energy exchange.
D006898 Hydroxylamines Organic compounds that contain the (-NH2OH) radical.
D000779 Anesthetics, Local Drugs that block nerve conduction when applied locally to nerve tissue in appropriate concentrations. They act on any part of the nervous system and on every type of nerve fiber. In contact with a nerve trunk, these anesthetics can cause both sensory and motor paralysis in the innervated area. Their action is completely reversible. (From Gilman AG, et. al., Goodman and Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, 8th ed) Nearly all local anesthetics act by reducing the tendency of voltage-dependent sodium channels to activate.
