Dielectrophoresis has been used to enrich selected cell subpopulations in a mixed cell population by exploiting differential dielectric properties. Six-fold enrichment of stem cells expressing the CD34+ antigen has been achieved for bone marrow samples and peripheral blood, without the requirement for initial chemical treatment associated with immunoadsorption techniques.

D015703 Antigens, CD Differentiation antigens residing on mammalian leukocytes. CD stands for cluster of differentiation, which refers to groups of monoclonal antibodies that show similar reactivity with certain subpopulations of antigens of a particular lineage or differentiation stage. The subpopulations of antigens are also known by the same CD designation. D018952 Antigens, CD34 Glycoproteins found on immature hematopoietic cells and endothelial cells. They are the only molecules to date whose expression within the blood system is restricted to a small number of progenitor cells in the bone marrow. CD34 Antigens,CD34 Antigen,Antigen, CD34
