[Detection of hemagglutinins in hantavirus serotypes and some of their properties]. 1995

T V Kushnareva, and R A Slonova, and T I Astakhova

Hemagglutinating properties of various serological types of hantavirus isolated in the Primorye area from humans with hemorrhagic fever with the renal syndrome and rodents, natural carriers of the virus, were studied. The strains were found to differ by capacity to accumulate hemagglutinin at multiplication in Vero E-6 cells. A method for elevating hemagglutinin titers by combined treatment of cultural virus-containing fluid with polyethyleneglycol-6000 and Tween-80-ether or acetone-ultrasound is suggested. The hemagglutinating activity of hantavirus strains was found to depend on the method of treatment and pH range.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D002522 Chlorocebus aethiops A species of CERCOPITHECUS containing three subspecies: C. tantalus, C. pygerythrus, and C. sabeus. They are found in the forests and savannah of Africa. The African green monkey is the natural host of SIMIAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS and is used in AIDS research.
