[Nature and mechanism of plaque formation (vesiculocytosis)]. 1976

V S Kisliakov

According to N. N. Klemparskaya the process of plaque formation in the peripheral blood was the result of erythrocyte hemolysis by autohemolysins released by immunocompetent mononuclears--lymphocytes and plasma cells. However, such interpretation was not confirmed in investigation of the mentioned process. Plaque staining, cinemicrography and other methods showed plaque formation to occur on account of drawing apart the erythrocytes, not their hemolysis, by the substances which was released from the cells as a result of destructive processes with vesicle formation (vesiculocytosis). No vital activity or division of these cells was observed in the blood preparations. Polynuclears -- chiefly neutrophils, not mononuclears, served as the plaque-forming cells.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D006462 Hemolytic Plaque Technique A method to identify and enumerate cells that are synthesizing ANTIBODIES against ANTIGENS or HAPTENS conjugated to sheep RED BLOOD CELLS. The sheep red blood cells surrounding cells secreting antibody are lysed by added COMPLEMENT producing a clear zone of HEMOLYSIS. D000921 Antibody-Producing Cells Cells of the lymphoid series that can react with antigen to produce specific cell products called antibodies. Various cell subpopulations, often B-lymphocytes, can be defined, based on the different classes of immunoglobulins that they synthesize. D001323 Autoantibodies Antibodies that react with self-antigens (AUTOANTIGENS) of the organism that produced them. Autoantibody
D013696 Temperature The property of objects that determines the direction of heat flow when they are placed in direct thermal contact. The temperature is the energy of microscopic motions (vibrational and translational) of the particles of atoms. Temperatures
D013997 Time Factors Elements of limited time intervals, contributing to particular results or situations. Time Series,Factor, Time,Time Factor
