The preceptor experience: a qualitative study of perceptions of nurse preceptors regarding the preceptor role. 1995

This qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive survey was undertaken to identify benefits and disadvantages of the preceptor role as perceived by nurse preceptors. Information regarding rewards preceptors perceived as desirable also was obtained. Findings from this study can be used to develop preceptor programs that increase job satisfaction for preceptors and improve the learning environment for orientees.
