OBJECTIVE To assess the effectiveness of tuboplasty procedures employing fibrin glue. METHODS Experimental tuboplasty operations were performed on 63 rats using biological glues (fibrin glue--"Beriplast" Behring; "FK-1", Russia) and microsuture materials. Uterine horn patency, adhesion formation, and other changes at the site of anastomosis, as well as pregnancy rate and embryonal characteristics, were assessed. CONCLUSIONS We confirmed the effectiveness of fibrin glue application in reconstructive surgery on uterine horns, and documented no significant differences between microsuture and sutureless anastomoses with regard to pregnancy rates (80 and 83.3%, respectively).

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D011247 Pregnancy The status during which female mammals carry their developing young (EMBRYOS or FETUSES) in utero before birth, beginning from FERTILIZATION to BIRTH. Gestation,Pregnancies

D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D014599 Uterus The hollow thick-walled muscular organ in the female PELVIS. It consists of the fundus which is the site of EMBRYO IMPLANTATION and FETAL DEVELOPMENT. Beyond the isthmus at the perineal end of fundus, is CERVIX UTERI (the neck) opening into VAGINA. Beyond the isthmi at the upper abdominal end of fundus, are the FALLOPIAN TUBES. D015718 Fibrin Tissue Adhesive An autologous or commercial tissue adhesive containing FIBRINOGEN and THROMBIN. The commercial product is a two component system from human plasma that contains more than fibrinogen and thrombin. The first component contains highly concentrated fibrinogen, FACTOR VIII, fibronectin, and traces of other plasma proteins. The second component contains thrombin, calcium chloride, and antifibrinolytic agents such as APROTININ. Mixing of the two components promotes BLOOD CLOTTING and the formation and cross-linking of fibrin. The tissue adhesive is used for tissue sealing, HEMOSTASIS, and WOUND HEALING.
