Accurate marginal fit and proper contour and surface finish of a temporary crown are needed to maintain healthy contiguous gingiva before the placing of the final restorations. In this study, the effect of two finish line types and the period of their remaining in the mouth on the marginal adaptation of temporary crowns was examined. According to our research findings, although no statistically significant difference was found between the marginal adaptation of the crowns of the chamfer and shoulder types, after 7 days a discrepancy of an important degree was observed in the shoulder type crown (t = 2.379, P < 0.05).

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D003188 Composite Resins Synthetic resins, containing an inert filler, that are widely used in dentistry. Composite Resin,Resin, Composite,Resins, Composite
D003442 Crowns A prosthetic restoration that reproduces the entire surface anatomy of the visible natural crown of a tooth. It may be partial (covering three or more surfaces of a tooth) or complete (covering all surfaces). It is made of gold or other metal, porcelain, or resin. Dental Crowns,Crown, Dental,Crowns, Dental,Dental Crown,Crown
D003737 Dental Cavity Preparation An operation in which carious material is removed from teeth and biomechanically correct forms are established in the teeth to receive and retain restorations. A constant requirement is provision for prevention of failure of the restoration through recurrence of decay or inadequate resistance to applied stresses. D003794 Dental Restoration, Temporary A prosthesis or restoration placed for a limited period, from several days to several months, which is designed to seal the tooth and maintain its position until a permanent restoration (DENTAL RESTORATION, PERMANENT) will replace it. D018772 Dental Marginal Adaptation The degree of approximation or fit of filling material or dental prosthetic to the tooth surface.
