[Apoplexy and stenosis of the renal atery (author's transl)]. 1975

J D Gruss, and B von Cube, and D Bartels

A 48-year old man with stenosis of the right renal artery and hypertension of the renal artery and hypertension of the renal vessels suffered an apoplectic insult under antihypertensive therapy. The cause of this insult was found to be an acute total occlusion of the right carotid artery. At the same time there were stenoses of the right vertebral, the left common carotid and the left internal carotid arteries. Thromboendarterectomy of the right internal carotid artery, subclavio-carotid bypass on the left and thromboendarterectomy of the left intenal carotid artery and aortorenal bypass on the right were performed one after the other. The blood pressure can be premanently lowered, neurological symptoms no langer appear and the patient is completely able to work again.

D012078 Renal Artery Obstruction Narrowing or occlusion of the RENAL ARTERY or arteries. It is due usually to ATHEROSCLEROSIS; FIBROMUSCULAR DYSPLASIA; THROMBOSIS; EMBOLISM, or external pressure. The reduced renal perfusion can lead to renovascular hypertension (HYPERTENSION, RENOVASCULAR). D002339 Carotid Arteries Either of the two principal arteries on both sides of the neck that supply blood to the head and neck; each divides into two branches, the internal carotid artery and the external carotid artery. Arteries, Carotid,Artery, Carotid,Carotid Artery
D002341 Carotid Artery Thrombosis Blood clot formation in any part of the CAROTID ARTERIES. This may produce CAROTID STENOSIS or occlusion of the vessel, leading to TRANSIENT ISCHEMIC ATTACK; CEREBRAL INFARCTION; or AMAUROSIS FUGAX. D002561 Cerebrovascular Disorders A spectrum of pathological conditions of impaired blood flow in the brain. They can involve vessels (ARTERIES or VEINS) in the CEREBRUM, the CEREBELLUM, and the BRAIN STEM. Major categories include INTRACRANIAL ARTERIOVENOUS MALFORMATIONS; BRAIN ISCHEMIA; CEREBRAL HEMORRHAGE; and others.
