[Endorectal sonography and computer tomography in the treatment of rectal malignancies]. 1994

The authors evaluate the contribution of computed tomography and endorectal sonography for the diagnosis and treatment in 32 patients from a total number of 84 patients treated on account of a rectal malignoma at the First Surgical Clinic of the Medical Faculty and Faculty Hospital in Olomouc during the three-year period between 1990 and 1992. The results of the examination were compared with the finding on operation and the histological examination. The authors maintain that both methods are useful but in different ways. So far the authors cannot express their opinion on indication of adjuvant therapy in conjunction with CT and endosonographic diagnosis.
