[Characteristics of meiosis in a trisomic male of the Urodele amphibian Pleurodeles waltlii Michah]. 1975

C Guillemin

In a trisomic male the metaphases of the first and second divisions of the meiosis are analysed. Some metaphases present special aspects. They are interpreted as the result of a chromatid disjunction during the first division of the meiosos. The homology between the meiotic and mitotic chromosomes is in part completed.

D008540 Meiosis A type of CELL NUCLEUS division, occurring during maturation of the GERM CELLS. Two successive cell nucleus divisions following a single chromosome duplication (S PHASE) result in daughter cells with half the number of CHROMOSOMES as the parent cells. D002842 Chromatids Either of the two longitudinally adjacent threads formed when a eukaryotic chromosome replicates prior to mitosis. The chromatids are held together at the centromere. Sister chromatids are derived from the same chromosome. (Singleton & Sainsbury, Dictionary of Microbiology and Molecular Biology, 2d ed) Chromatid
D006238 Haploidy The chromosomal constitution of cells, in which each type of CHROMOSOME is represented once. Symbol: N. Haploid,Haploid Cell,Cell, Haploid,Cells, Haploid,Haploid Cells,Haploidies,Haploids
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. Animal,Metazoa,Animalia
D012455 Salamandridae A family of Urodela consisting of 15 living genera and about 42 species and occurring in North America, Europe, Asia, and North Africa. Newts,Taricha,Newt,Tarichas
D013090 Spermatocytes Male germ cells derived from SPERMATOGONIA. The euploid primary spermatocytes undergo MEIOSIS and give rise to the haploid secondary spermatocytes which in turn give rise to SPERMATIDS. Spermiocytes,Spermatocyte,Spermiocyte
D013737 Testis The male gonad containing two functional parts: the SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES for the production and transport of male germ cells (SPERMATOGENESIS) and the interstitial compartment containing LEYDIG CELLS that produce ANDROGENS. Testicles,Testes,Testicle
D014314 Trisomy The possession of a third chromosome of any one type in an otherwise diploid cell. Partial Trisomy,Chromosomal Triplication,Chromosomal Triplications,Partial Trisomies,Trisomies,Trisomies, Partial,Trisomy, Partial
