Plasma cholesterol levels in Macaca nemestrina fed cholesterol-free, polyunsaturated diets. 1976

G A Spiller, and R J Amen

Mean plasma cholesterol levels of a group of male, adult pig-tailed monkeys (Macaca nemestrina) fed cholesterol-free, semisynthetic diets with a high polyunsaturated to saturated fat ratio were found to range from 27-79 mg/dl. All plasma cholesterol values found were much lower than for M nemestrina fed commercial food.
