[Demonstration of 2 phases in RNA synthesis during regeneration of planarian (Polycelis tenuis-nigra)]. 1976

I Martelly, and C Borney, and A L Moigne

An analytical-technique for the extraction of total RNA has been employed to investigate RNA synthesis during regeneration in Planaria. Two phases in RNA synthesis were identified during the first 72 hrs. after the section.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D009963 Orotic Acid An intermediate product in PYRIMIDINE synthesis which plays a role in chemical conversions between DIHYDROFOLATE and TETRAHYDROFOLATE. Potassium Orotate,Sodium Orotate,Zinc Orotate,Acid, Orotic,Orotate, Potassium,Orotate, Sodium,Orotate, Zinc
D010932 Planarians Nonparasitic free-living flatworms of the class Turbellaria. The most common genera are Dugesia, formerly Planaria, which lives in water, and Bipalium, which lives on land. Geoplana occurs in South America and California. Dugesia,Dugesias,Planarian
D012038 Regeneration The physiological renewal, repair, or replacement of tissue. Endogenous Regeneration,Regeneration, Endogenous,Regenerations
D003609 Dactinomycin A compound composed of a two CYCLIC PEPTIDES attached to a phenoxazine that is derived from STREPTOMYCES parvullus. It binds to DNA and inhibits RNA synthesis (transcription), with chain elongation more sensitive than initiation, termination, or release. As a result of impaired mRNA production, protein synthesis also declines after dactinomycin therapy. (From AMA Drug Evaluations Annual, 1993, p2015) Actinomycin,Actinomycin D,Meractinomycin,Cosmegen,Cosmegen Lyovac,Lyovac-Cosmegen,Lyovac Cosmegen,Lyovac, Cosmegen,LyovacCosmegen
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. Animal,Metazoa,Animalia
D012313 RNA A polynucleotide consisting essentially of chains with a repeating backbone of phosphate and ribose units to which nitrogenous bases are attached. RNA is unique among biological macromolecules in that it can encode genetic information, serve as an abundant structural component of cells, and also possesses catalytic activity. D014419 Turbellaria A class of free-living freshwater flatworms of North America. Turbellarias
