The personal tutor: a teacher's view. 1993

A Charnock

The dramatic changes that have occurred in the National Health Service during the last decade have been mirrored in nurse education. Although these changes have had a positive impact, students and tutors may feel they have created additional stress. This article looks at the personal nurse tutor's role in helping students come to terms with events at a vulnerable time in their lives. Scientific and humanistic evidence for the role is presented, and a model is offered as guidance for good practice in personal tutoring.
