[Examination of the venous system of the uvea (author's transl)]. 1977

G Morone, and A Tazzi, and G Carella

The authors examined the microvascular venous aspects of the uveal membrane and have divided it into three territories: anterior, intermediate and posterior. They showed a double drainage system of the anterior territory. In addition, they believe that there is a difference between the anterior and the intermediate territories, which show sectorization, and the posterior venous territory which presents morphological and functional homogenity.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007498 Iris The most anterior portion of the uveal layer, separating the anterior chamber from the posterior. It consists of two layers - the stroma and the pigmented epithelium. Color of the iris depends on the amount of melanin in the stroma on reflection from the pigmented epithelium.
D009880 Ophthalmic Artery Artery originating from the internal carotid artery and distributing to the eye, orbit and adjacent facial structures. Arteries, Ophthalmic,Artery, Ophthalmic,Ophthalmic Arteries
D011817 Rabbits A burrowing plant-eating mammal with hind limbs that are longer than its fore limbs. It belongs to the family Leporidae of the order Lagomorpha, and in contrast to hares, possesses 22 instead of 24 pairs of chromosomes. D002829 Choroid The thin, highly vascular membrane covering most of the posterior of the eye between the RETINA and SCLERA. Choriocapillaris,Haller Layer,Haller's Layer,Sattler Layer,Sattler's Layer,Choroids
D002924 Ciliary Body A ring of tissue extending from the scleral spur to the ora serrata of the RETINA. It consists of the uveal portion and the epithelial portion. The ciliary muscle is in the uveal portion and the ciliary processes are in the epithelial portion. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D014602 Uvea The pigmented vascular coat of the eyeball, consisting of the CHOROID; CILIARY BODY; and IRIS, which are continuous with each other. (Cline et al., Dictionary of Visual Science, 4th ed) Uveas
D014680 Veins The vessels carrying blood away from the CAPILLARY BEDS. Vein
