Vasectomy: a simple postoperative regimen. 1977

I S Edwards

Five hundred men have been followed up for 12 to 15 months after vasectomy. A simple postoperative regimen for confirmation of sterility has proved to be reliable. This comprised examination of a single fresh seminal specimen after 10 ejaculations, non-motile sperm being disregarded and the test being repeated only in those rare cases in which motile sperm were found. Sterility was demonstrated for 26% of men within four weeks of operation, and for 69% of them within eight weeks.
