Thumb reconstruction by free transplantation of a damaged index ray from the other hand: case report. 1977

M L Brownstein

We feel that the success rate of microvascular anastomosis, for surgeons experienced in it, provides, in selected cases, a method for thumb reconstruction which satisfies most or all of the desired goals. It also provides a means for preserving damaged parts--ones of limited value--and getting more important functions from them.
