Providing cost-effective care while maintaining an academic medical center's high standards of excellence in the era of managed care is a challenge. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's (RWJUH) success in meeting this challenge is accomplished, in part, through a comprehensive effort in re-engineering and restructuring that has enabled us to remain agile. As a result, physicians, nurses, technicians, and other health care professionals can devote more of their time to working directly with patients and their families.
