Synthesis of (Glu-OMe)2-litorin. 1977

M Mazzoli, and R de Castiglione

The synthesis of the nonapeptide less than Glu-Glu(OMe)-Trp-Ala-Val-Gly-His-Phe-Met-NH2, corresponding to the formula of the (Glu-OMe)2-litorin, is described. The compound has the same chemical and biological properties of the second bombesin like peptide extracted from the skin of the Australian frog Litoria aurea.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D010455 Peptides Members of the class of compounds composed of AMINO ACIDS joined together by peptide bonds between adjacent amino acids into linear, branched or cyclical structures. OLIGOPEPTIDES are composed of approximately 2-12 amino acids. Polypeptides are composed of approximately 13 or more amino acids. PROTEINS are considered to be larger versions of peptides that can form into complex structures such as ENZYMES and RECEPTORS. Peptide,Polypeptide,Polypeptides
D001839 Bombesin A tetradecapeptide originally obtained from the skins of toads Bombina bombina and B. variegata. It is also an endogenous neurotransmitter in many animals including mammals. Bombesin affects vascular and other smooth muscle, gastric secretion, and renal circulation and function. Bombesin 14,Bombesin Dihydrochloride,Dihydrochloride, Bombesin
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D001001 Anura An order of the class Amphibia, which includes several families of frogs and toads. They are characterized by well developed hind limbs adapted for jumping, fused head and trunk and webbed toes. The term "toad" is ambiguous and is properly applied only to the family Bufonidae. D012867 Skin The outer covering of the body that protects it from the environment. It is composed of the DERMIS and the EPIDERMIS.
