In the 1920s V. V. Stanchinskiĭ undertook an attempt at evolutionary synthesis on the basis of darwinism, new taxonomy, generalizations of population genetics of S. S. Chetverikov's school, the concept of Linnean species of N. I. Vavilov, ecological-genetic studies of the school of N. I. Vavilov, and data on biocenology. An original evolutionary-ecological concept was developed by V. V. Stanchinskiĭ on this basis.
