[Indication of tracheotomy after lung resection (author's transl)]. 1977

H Voigt

Today tracheotomy is not often performed after resction of the lung. This is caused by better postoperative care and also by the well known complications following tracheostomy. Indications for tracheostomy are as follows: 1. The necessity for long term ventilation.--2. The necessity to perform bronchus-toilet in short intervals in patients unable to cough.--3. In patients with respiratory insufficiency after pneumonia or other reasons.
