Although the reported prevalence rate of children who assault their parents is high, ranging from 0.6 to 16%, publications dealing with this subject are rare. Based upon data from the literature and a personal experience the family structure of such aggressive parents-children relationships are described in an attempt to define causative mechanisms. This may help to early recognition and prevention of this type of familial violence.
