Serological interrelationships in avian mycoplasma serotypes. 1976

P J Asnani, and S C Agarwal

A study of 18 standard avian mycoplasma and their antisera employing indirect haemagglutination test revealed distinct relationships among avian mycoplasma serotypes, so that they could be classified into 9 groups.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D009174 Mycoplasma A genus of gram-negative, mostly facultatively anaerobic bacteria in the family MYCOPLASMATACEAE. The cells are bounded by a PLASMA MEMBRANE and lack a true CELL WALL. Its organisms are pathogens found on the MUCOUS MEMBRANES of humans, ANIMALS, and BIRDS. D006385 Hemagglutination Inhibition Tests Serologic tests in which a known quantity of antigen is added to the serum prior to the addition of a red cell suspension. Reaction result is expressed as the smallest amount of antigen which causes complete inhibition of hemagglutination. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D001717 Birds Warm-blooded VERTEBRATES possessing FEATHERS and belonging to the class Aves. Aves,Bird
D012703 Serotyping Process of determining and distinguishing species of bacteria or viruses based on antigens they share. Serotypings
