The conduction system in double outlet right ventricle with subpulmonic ventricular septal defect and related hearts (the Taussig-Bing group). 1976

S Bharati, and M Lev

The Taussig-Bind group of hearts is that group in which the aorta emerges completely from the right ventricle, unrelated to the position of the ventricular septal defect (VSD), while the pulmonary trunk emerges at varying degrees from the right ventricle related to the location of the VSD. Several types of surgical procedures involve the VSD in these hearts. The conduction systems in six of these hearts were therefore studied. The atrioventricular (A-V) bundle lies in the inferior (posterior) wall of the defect on the left side beneath the summit of the ventricular septum. In some cases, the bundle may be proximal to the defect, thus lying intramuscularly, and only the right and left bundle branches are related to the defect. The pattern od development of the atrioventricular (A-V) node, bundle and bundle branches is related primarily to the development of the endocardial cushions and posterior ventricular septum, and not to that of the absorption of the bulbus.

D007223 Infant A child between 1 and 23 months of age. Infants
D007231 Infant, Newborn An infant during the first 28 days after birth. Neonate,Newborns,Infants, Newborn,Neonates,Newborn,Newborn Infant,Newborn Infants
D008297 Male Males
D011651 Pulmonary Artery The short wide vessel arising from the conus arteriosus of the right ventricle and conveying unaerated blood to the lungs. Arteries, Pulmonary,Artery, Pulmonary,Pulmonary Arteries
D002036 Bundle of His Small band of specialized CARDIAC MUSCLE fibers that originates in the ATRIOVENTRICULAR NODE and extends into the membranous part of the interventricular septum. The bundle of His, consisting of the left and the right bundle branches, conducts the electrical impulses to the HEART VENTRICLES in generation of MYOCARDIAL CONTRACTION. D002648 Child A person 6 to 12 years of age. An individual 2 to 5 years old is CHILD, PRESCHOOL. Children
D004374 Ductus Arteriosus, Patent A congenital heart defect characterized by the persistent opening of fetal DUCTUS ARTERIOSUS that connects the PULMONARY ARTERY to the descending aorta (AORTA, DESCENDING) allowing unoxygenated blood to bypass the lung and flow to the PLACENTA. Normally, the ductus is closed shortly after birth. Patent Ductus Arteriosus Familial,Patency of the Ductus Arteriosus,Patent Ductus Arteriosus
D005260 Female Females
D006329 Heart Conduction System An impulse-conducting system composed of modified cardiac muscle, having the power of spontaneous rhythmicity and conduction more highly developed than the rest of the heart.
