Cervical pregnancy is a rare occurrence, and evacuation can induce uncontrollable bleeding, requiring emergency hysterectomy. Where a cervical pregnancy is diagnosed at an early stage, conservative treatment is preferred to surgery. Vaginal sonographic examination is helpful in making an early diagnosis. The effect of treatment can be monitored by measuring beta human chorionic gonadotrophin (beta-hCG) in serum. A case of cervical pregnancy which was treated successfully with methotrexate administered systemically is reported.
