Development of the aging cell surface: a freeze-fracture analysis of gap junctions between human embryo fibroblasts aging in culture. A brief note. 1976

Gap junctions have been identified between cells in late passage cultures of human embryo fibroblasts using techniques of freeze-fracture and electron microscopy. The junctions are sparsely distributed, which may suggest a decrease in electrotonic and metabolic coupling with increased age in culture.
