[The interaction of the dominant and the conditioned reflex in the dynamics of the generalization phenomenon]. 1998

In dogs the generalization reaction to the stimuli of the same modality was observed with equal intensity both at the early and late stages of conditioning, while no generalization was observed to stimuli of different modalities. With increase in the level of the alimentary motivation the generalization reaction began to be recorded to stimuli of different modality. Thus, the spread and intensity of generalization depends on the strength of motivation. The persistence of generalization suggests that the dominant which underlies the generalization phenomenon is retained for a long time and can exist in parallel with the stable conditioned reflex.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D009042 Motivation Those factors which cause an organism to behave or act in either a goal-seeking or satisfying manner. They may be influenced by physiological drives or by external stimuli. Incentives,Disincentives,Expectations,Disincentive,Expectation,Incentive,Motivations
D010812 Physical Stimulation Act of eliciting a response from a person or organism through physical contact. Stimulation, Physical,Physical Stimulations,Stimulations, Physical
D003214 Conditioning, Classical Learning that takes place when a conditioned stimulus is paired with an unconditioned stimulus. Reflex, Conditioned,Classical Conditioning,Classical Conditionings,Conditioned Reflex,Conditionings, Classical
D003216 Conditioning, Operant Learning situations in which the sequence responses of the subject are instrumental in producing reinforcement. When the correct response occurs, which involves the selection from among a repertoire of responses, the subject is immediately reinforced. Instrumental Learning,Learning, Instrumental,Operant Conditioning,Conditionings, Operant,Instrumental Learnings,Learnings, Instrumental,Operant Conditionings
D004285 Dogs The domestic dog, Canis familiaris, comprising about 400 breeds, of the carnivore family CANIDAE. They are worldwide in distribution and live in association with people. (Walker's Mammals of the World, 5th ed, p1065) Canis familiaris,Dog
D005247 Feeding Behavior Behavioral responses or sequences associated with eating including modes of feeding, rhythmic patterns of eating, and time intervals. D005794 Generalization, Response The principle that after an organism learns to respond in a particular manner to a stimulus, that stimulus is effective in eliciting similar responses. Generalizations, Response,Response Generalization,Response Generalizations
D006613 Higher Nervous Activity A term used in Eastern European research literature on brain and behavior physiology for cortical functions. It refers to the highest level of integrative function of the brain, centered in the CEREBRAL CORTEX, regulating language, thought, and behavior via sensory, motor, and cognitive processes. Activities, Higher Nervous,Activity, Higher Nervous,Higher Nervous Activities,Nervous Activities, Higher,Nervous Activity, Higher
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. Animal,Metazoa,Animalia
D013997 Time Factors Elements of limited time intervals, contributing to particular results or situations. Time Series,Factor, Time,Time Factor
