The use of psychotropic medication in preschoolers: some recent developments. 1998

OBJECTIVE To provide an overview of the use of psychotropic drugs in preschoolers. METHODS Literature review. RESULTS Although controversy persists, the evidence suggests that preschool children are being given an increasing number of psychotropic drugs, especially by general practitioners and pediatricians. CONCLUSIONS There is an urgent need to formally evaluate the efficacy of psychotropic medication for young children.
