'Human Immunoglobulin Kappa Variable (IGKV) Genes and Joining (IGKJ) Segments', second report of the 'IMGT Locus on Focus' section, comprises five tables entitled: (1) 'Number of human germline IGKV genes at 2p12 and potential repertoire'; (2) 'Human germline IGKV gene table'; (3) 'Human IGKV allele table'; (4) 'Human germline IGKJ table' and (5) 'Human IGKJ allele table'. These tables are available at the IMGT Marie-Paule page from IMGT, the international ImMunoGeneTics database (http://imgt.cnusc.fr:8104) created by Marie-Paule Lefranc, CNRS, Université Montpellier II, Montpellier, France.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007144 Immunoglobulin J-Chains A 15 kDa "joining" peptide that forms one of the linkages between monomers of IMMUNOGLOBULIN A or IMMUNOGLOBULIN M in the formation of polymeric immunoglobulins. There is one J chain per one IgA dimer or one IgM pentamer. It is also involved in binding the polymeric immunoglobulins to POLYMERIC IMMUNOGLOBULIN RECEPTOR which is necessary for their transcytosis to the lumen. It is distinguished from the IMMUNOGLOBULIN JOINING REGION which is part of the IMMUNOGLOBULIN VARIABLE REGION of the immunoglobulin light and heavy chains. D011544 Pseudogenes Genes bearing close resemblance to known genes at different loci, but rendered non-functional by additions or deletions in structure that prevent normal transcription or translation. When lacking introns and containing a poly-A segment near the downstream end (as a result of reverse copying from processed nuclear RNA into double-stranded DNA), they are called processed genes.
