[Studies of acrosin and human sperm trypsin inhibitor activity in human semen. I. Relations to sperm density]. 1976

C Schirren, and H P Kraatz

Report concerning the sperm examination of 825 patients of the Dept. for Andrology. The acrosin as well as the human sperma trypsin inhibitor activity were investigated. The results were related to sperm density. It was found that acrosin activity was significantly dependent on sperm density. For the human sperma trypsin inhibitor activity this relationship could not be established, although lower values were found by sperm deficiency and higher values by high sperm density.

D012661 Semen The thick, yellowish-white, viscid fluid secretion of male reproductive organs discharged upon ejaculation. In addition to reproductive organ secretions, it contains SPERMATOZOA and their nutrient plasma. Seminal Plasma,Plasma, Seminal
D013094 Spermatozoa Mature male germ cells derived from SPERMATIDS. As spermatids move toward the lumen of the SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES, they undergo extensive structural changes including the loss of cytoplasm, condensation of CHROMATIN into the SPERM HEAD, formation of the ACROSOME cap, the SPERM MIDPIECE and the SPERM TAIL that provides motility.
