The title compound, C(7)H(8)N(3)(+).C(5)H(7)O(4)(-), crystallizes with Z' = 2 in space group P2(1)/c; eight independent N-H.O hydrogen bonds [H.O = 1.75-1.88 A, N.O = 2.699 (2)-2.829 (2) A and N-H.O = 147-179 degrees ] link the four independent ions into sheets.
