[A study of mast cell funcntional activity during immobilization stress]. 2006

O S Artashian, and B G Iushkov, and E A Mukhlynina

Response of mast cells to stress has a systemic character, being observed in organs both determining development of stress reaction (thymus, bone marrow, adrenals, stomach, duodenum) and not participating in this process (skin, liver). The reaction of mastocytes is manifested as a total degranulation. Mast cell secretion is regulatory by its nature, and biologically active compound are released directly on the target cells. Along with degranulation, which is observed in organs participating in stress reaction formation, migration of mast cells takes place, resulting in their redistribution.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008297 Male Males
D008407 Mast Cells Granulated cells that are found in almost all tissues, most abundantly in the skin and the gastrointestinal tract. Like the BASOPHILS, mast cells contain large amounts of HISTAMINE and HEPARIN. Unlike basophils, mast cells normally remain in the tissues and do not circulate in the blood. Mast cells, derived from the bone marrow stem cells, are regulated by the STEM CELL FACTOR. Basophils, Tissue,Basophil, Tissue,Cell, Mast,Cells, Mast,Mast Cell,Tissue Basophil,Tissue Basophils
D009928 Organ Specificity Characteristic restricted to a particular organ of the body, such as a cell type, metabolic response or expression of a particular protein or antigen. D012149 Restraint, Physical Use of a device for the purpose of controlling movement of all or part of the body. Splinting and casting are FRACTURE FIXATION. Immobilization, Physical,Physical Restraint,Physical Immobilization,Physical Restraints,Restraints, Physical
D002452 Cell Count The number of CELLS of a specific kind, usually measured per unit volume or area of sample. Cell Density,Cell Number,Cell Counts,Cell Densities,Cell Numbers,Count, Cell,Counts, Cell,Densities, Cell,Density, Cell,Number, Cell,Numbers, Cell
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D013312 Stress, Physiological The unfavorable effect of environmental factors (stressors) on the physiological functions of an organism. Prolonged unresolved physiological stress can affect HOMEOSTASIS of the organism, and may lead to damaging or pathological conditions. D015550 Cell Degranulation The process of losing secretory granules (SECRETORY VESICLES). This occurs, for example, in mast cells, basophils, neutrophils, eosinophils, and platelets when secretory products are released from the granules by EXOCYTOSIS. Degranulation, Cell
