The cell transformational test, consisting in morphological transformation of the human embryonal lung cells, is a rapid and sensitive method of identification of chemical carcinogens. The test is capable of revealing carcinogens undetectable by other methods and it makes it possible to avoid mistakes due to inter-species differences in the biotransformation of the drugs tested.
