[Effect of lidocaine and pyromecaine on the size of an experimental myocardial infarct]. 1986

G Kh Goldshteĭne, and I B Tsorin, and G G Chichkanov

The experiments on rats with a 3-day myocardial infarction caused by the left coronary artery ligation have shown that multiple lidocaine and pyromecaine injections according to a given scheme decrease the size of the necrosis area. Drug effects were not related to their action on the blood supply of the ischemic area.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008012 Lidocaine A local anesthetic and cardiac depressant used as an antiarrhythmia agent. Its actions are more intense and its effects more prolonged than those of PROCAINE but its duration of action is shorter than that of BUPIVACAINE or PRILOCAINE. Propranolol has been used for MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION; ARRHYTHMIA; ANGINA PECTORIS; HYPERTENSION; HYPERTHYROIDISM; MIGRAINE; PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA; and ANXIETY but adverse effects instigate replacement by newer drugs.
