[Morphofunctional changes in the sex gland of rats during stimulation and blockade of the M- and N-cholinoreactive systems]. 1980

G I Rafaél'skaia

The cholinergic agents arecolin, nicotin, amizil and etherofen induced morphofunctional changes in the testes as shown by experiments on white male rats. The drugs in a dose of 1 mg/kg stimulated hormonogenesis of the testicle. The cholinoblockers amizil and etherofen in a dose of 5 mg/kg strongly inhibited androgenic production. All the substances disturbed spermatogenesis, whose intensity depended on the action and doses of the drugs.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008297 Male Males
D009538 Nicotine Nicotine is highly toxic alkaloid. It is the prototypical agonist at nicotinic cholinergic receptors where it dramatically stimulates neurons and ultimately blocks synaptic transmission. Nicotine is also important medically because of its presence in tobacco smoke. Nicotine Bitartrate,Nicotine Tartrate
D004158 Diphenylacetic Acids Monocarboxylic acid derivatives of acetic acids, where the methyl hydrogens have been replaced by two phenyl groups. Acids, Diphenylacetic
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. Animal,Metazoa,Animalia
D001115 Arecoline An alkaloid obtained from the betel nut (Areca catechu), fruit of a palm tree. It is an agonist at both muscarinic and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It is used in the form of various salts as a ganglionic stimulant, a parasympathomimetic, and a vermifuge, especially in veterinary practice. It has been used as a euphoriant in the Pacific Islands. Methylarecaidin,Arecaline,Arecholin,Arecholine,Arecolin
D001535 Benactyzine A centrally acting muscarinic antagonist. Benactyzine has been used in the treatment of depression and is used in research to investigate the role of cholinergic systems on behavior. Amizil,Amizyl,Lucidil
D012670 Seminiferous Epithelium The epithelium lining the seminiferous tubules composed of primary male germ cells (SPERMATOGONIA) and supporting SERTOLI CELLS. As SPERMATOGENESIS proceeds, the developing germ cells migrate toward the lumen. The adluminal compartment, the inner two thirds of the tubules, contains SPERMATOCYTES and the more advanced germ cells. Epithelium, Seminiferous,Epitheliums, Seminiferous,Seminiferous Epitheliums
D013091 Spermatogenesis The process of germ cell development in the male from the primordial germ cells, through SPERMATOGONIA; SPERMATOCYTES; SPERMATIDS; to the mature haploid SPERMATOZOA. Spermatocytogenesis,Spermiogenesis
D013737 Testis The male gonad containing two functional parts: the SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES for the production and transport of male germ cells (SPERMATOGENESIS) and the interstitial compartment containing LEYDIG CELLS that produce ANDROGENS. Testicles,Testes,Testicle
D013997 Time Factors Elements of limited time intervals, contributing to particular results or situations. Time Series,Factor, Time,Time Factor
