[Rheoencephalographic findings in circular depressions]. 1978

I I Kut'ko, and M I Demarina

The paper is related to a special study of the vascular brain pathology by REG methods in 50 patients with circular depressions. The REG data demonstrated changes of REG waves not only in the elderly patients, but in young patients as well. The study detected normalizing influence of electroconvulsive therapy on the REG indices which correlated with the clinical improvement. A REG study of brain vessels permitted to reveal different vascular conditions in circular depressions, which may be of definite significance fof differential diagnosis and adequate therapy.

D002537 Intracranial Arteriosclerosis Vascular diseases characterized by thickening and hardening of the walls of ARTERIES inside the SKULL. There are three subtypes: (1) atherosclerosis with fatty deposits in the ARTERIAL INTIMA; (2) Monckeberg's sclerosis with calcium deposits in the media and (3) arteriolosclerosis involving the small caliber arteries. Clinical signs include HEADACHE; CONFUSION; transient blindness (AMAUROSIS FUGAX); speech impairment; and HEMIPARESIS.
