Refractive surgery for the correction of myopia. 1981

Interest in the surgical correction of myopia is increasing. At the present time, two procedures are clinically employed: radial keratotomy and myopic keratomileusis. The two techniques are described, and a detailed clinical comparison is presented.

Visual acuity depends on the functions of RETINA, neuronal transmission, and the interpretative ability of the brain. Normal visual acuity is expressed as 20/20 indicating that one can see at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance.
