[Primary operative repair of acute knee joint ligament injuries; results (author's transl)]. 1982

L Schroeder, and D Havemann, and H J Egbers

From 1978 to 1980 43 patients suffering from ligament injuries of the knee-joint immediately underwent definitive surgical repair. The follow-up of 31 patients showed 8 patients with excellent results, 13 with good results, 7 with satisfactory results, 2 with poor results, and 1 with a bad one. Instability could be found in the antero-medial compartment of 15 patients, in the antero-lateral compartment of 7 patients, in the postero-medial compartment of 2 patients. There was 1 case of instability in the postero-lateral compartment. We recommend to perform the repair as soon as possible and in the postoperative period as well as early mobilisation under supervision of an experienced physiotherapist.
