Corneal edema with polymethylmethacrylate versus gas-permeable rigid polymer contact lenses of identical design. 1980

An evaluation was made of the incidence of corneal edema with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) contact lenses and Polycon (silafocon A) lenses of identical design. Edema occurred significantly more frequently with PMMA than with Polycon lenses.
