Significant advances have been achieved in the exploration of various pathological conditions of the biliary ducts by the introduction of retrograde cholangiography as diagnostic tool in this department. This investigation has proved to be very promising in view of the valuable information gained at little risk to the patient. Furthermore, retrograde pancreaticography has improved diagnostic accuracy in pancreatic diseases. However, these results should only be assessed in conjunction with the complete clinical picture and history.
