Storage stability of dental composites. 1979

G M Brauer, and N Petrianyk, and D J Termini

Composites made from powder-liquid constituents and subjected to elevated temperatures during storage are more stable than those employing pastes. The decomposition of the benzoyl peroxide ingredient is mainly responsible for the increased setting time and the decreased mechanical properties of the resulting composite.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008689 Methacrylates Acrylic acids or acrylates which are substituted in the C-2 position with a methyl group. Methacrylate
D010636 Phenols Benzene derivatives that include one or more hydroxyl groups attached to the ring structure.
D011092 Polyethylene Glycols Polymers of ETHYLENE OXIDE and water, and their ethers. They vary in consistency from liquid to solid depending on the molecular weight indicated by a number following the name. They are used as SURFACTANTS, dispersing agents, solvents, ointment and suppository bases, vehicles, and tablet excipients. Some specific groups are NONOXYNOLS, OCTOXYNOLS, and POLOXAMERS.
